Things to do in Exeter

Touristic Information

Exeter is a city with abundance of things to see and do. You can find a pletora of places to visit and things to do at www.visitexeter.com. To help you get started, here it is a small selection of suggestions we are sure you will enjoy:

  • One of the most carismatic places in Exeter is the always popular Cathedral Green. There, appart from its truly beautiful Cathedral, you can find several really good restaurants we definitely recommend. Two Italian restaurants, Pizza Express and Ask Italian, and the Moroccan restaurant Al Farid. If you decide to give them a go, make sure you book a table beforehand. They can be quite busy, specially around the weekend.

  • Another really beautiful place in town is the always lively Ghandi Street. There you can find another good italian restaurant, Zizzi, toghether with a collection of interesting places to visit. Definitely the place to go if you want to do some alternative shopping. Also, at the very end of the street you will find perhaps the two most crucial cultural centres in the city: the The Royal Albert Memorial Museum, and the Phoenix Centre.

  • Of course, no matter what, you could not possibly leave England without visiting one of its traditional pubs. We have the luxury to have our own pub in campus, The RAM. And if you walk for 5 minutes, just at the main University entrance, we have a very special pub, The Imperial. Located in a building with a long history, is one of the most charismatics pubs in Exeter.

  • And if you are searching for something fancier, we can definitely invite you to visit all the restaurants located around Princesshay at the very heart of Exeter. The perfect place to have a nice meal, do some shopping or simply sit down and relax having a nice cup of tea or coffee. For those ones out there desperate for a good expresso, we definitely recommend “Coffe#1”. Also near to Princesshay, you could enjoy the views of the Roman Wall that used to delimit the old city of Exeter. If you want to tour around and visit the wall, please take a look at this leaflet from the Exeter City Council.
